14/05/08 UNDERTIM Signs Accord to Join the AMP Government
The Parliamentary Majority Alliance (AMP) held a meeting on Tuesday (13/5) in the residence of President of the National Parliament attended by the President of CNRT Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, President of the PSD Mario Viegas Carrascalao, the President of ASDT Francisco Xavier do Amaral, President of the PD Fernando Lasama, and the President of UNDERTIM Cornelius Gama. The meeting had the objective to welcome the entry of UNDERTIM in order to strengthen the alliance position to counter efforts to weaken it.
The President of CNRT Gusmao explained that the meeting was to discuss the entry of UNDERTIM into AMP. "We welcome them to strengthen AMP," explained Mr. Gusmao. Separately, the President of ASDT, Mr. Xavier, said that his party is still in AMP. The ASDT non-Fretilin alliance will not overthrow the AMP. In addition, the President of UNDERTIM, Mr. Gama said that his party is going to join the AMP because they have the same programs to implement.
"We come, the AMP with the awareness that AMP's programs to be implemented are part of programmes of UNDERTIM such as giving attention to veterans and vulnerable people. Another reason for joining the AMP is because some people are trying to break the AMP and our joining it will strengthen it," said Mr. Gama
O acordo ASDT/Fretilin acabou por resultar no fortalecimento da AMP. E nao tarda Xavier tera que reconsiderar a sua decisao se nao quiser ficar politicamente isolado tanto a nivel geral como na opiniao dos proprios militantes da ASDT.
Parece que esta sua decisao foi tomada sem pensar nas consequencias para si mesmo e para o seu proprio partido.
De qualquer das formas a AMP esta ainda mais solida e eleicoes "anticipadas" terao que ser so mesmo em 2012.
Em conclusao, quanto mais a Fretilin de Alkatiri da passos falsos mais a AMP se fortalece e e' desta vez que Timor podera mesmo entrar numa nova fase de estabilidade e paz.
Que assim seja! Deus e' grande e sabe que o povo timorense ja sofreu demais por causa da politica.
